Best way to find out for sure is look up the number and call their 1800 number and ask them but I doubt it will be covered under that law.

One other thing you can do is call up the local dealership parts depart , ask them how much it costs and the part number of the PCM is for the modle and yr , then ask them for the same info on a 2002.Why you'd ask this detailed info is to see if the two yrs have the same exact part number, also you could try asking your local U pick auto wreckers or wreckers and ask them what years of that vehicle or models have the exact same TCM.

Then go to a U pick yard and remove one it would be a lot cheaper then buying a new one , just be sure you have a 8mm socket set with you to remove the TCM.The most common locals is on the firewall by the battery , or on the firewall on the passengers side or it's up by the winshield on the passengers side.If you do buy one used that way it should be 50 to 150 bucks tops and new its about 600 I believe.

What you need to do is make sure you have all possible security codes for radio or ignition etc handy but read your owners manual and double check what it's mentions when it comes to disconnecting the battery bec you need to do that when changing any comps.

You might luck out and find a 2005 but I doubt it and you'll need to be sure the same engine and transmission is in the vehicle you remove the TCM from but be sure you check with the dealership for any 60 buck or so program or flash updates or service bulltettins for that vehicle exist.Example a 2002 TCM might be the same but the programming info is old and requires updating asap.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way when you talk to the dealership especially about program updates , ask them if the TCM will require to be put into the learning mode for best results.

Also if you look around there are some speciality shops out there that just deal in selling or rebuilding vehicle comps and they might be able to offer you a deal or the type of info I mentioned but remember when dealing with such issues always call more then one dealership or parts store or wreckers etc and always ask questions and compare info it's vital.

The Fed emission law is 7/70 your out of warranty on that, Check around on the net and see if you can get a rebuilt one. Chrysler should also offer a reman one if the parts are flowing yet from the Chapter 11. And Last I remember there was a rebuild shop in Florida that sold them too, so dont chuck your old one (core). You just got to look and call

You are going to have to replace it at your expense.
