Question:
Can someone explain to me how if Chrysler closes, my warranty wouldn't be honored but I'd have to pay for car?

I don't understand this.

If Chrysler goes under, I have to PAY for my car (the $10k I have left in payments), but yet, my Chrysler Warranty won't be honored. Does that make any sense at all?

yes, it makes sense. 1st Chrysler isn't going under. they are backed by a few foreign auto makers and they are gonna be o.k. 2nd if they do go bankrupt, it will be a restructuring. meaning they will still be in Business, but the government will require them to rebuild their Business structure. which means they will still honor your warranty.

and to answer your question. your car was purchased from chrysler, but you financed it from another entity. regardless of what happens to the car you will owe that money for the loan that you signed for. Even if you are paying the money to a loan company through Chrysler, it is still a separate company that you took the loan from.

Your car loan isn't to Chrysler, regardless of how they presented it - a separate underwriter holds the paper on the loan. Chrysler was paid for the car when it left the factory by the dealer, who carried his own financing. The warranty repairs gets paid to the repair shop by Chrysler, so if they were to go Chapter 11, nobody is going to work for free on the car.
