Chrysler K motor question?

I would like to know the similar parts of a 1985 2.2L turbo I and 1993 2.5L. I am planning on using the turbo from the 2.2L out of a 600 ES Turbo for a Dodge Spirit with the 2.5L, I was told the heads are the same but blocks are different and I would be able to do the conversion. I would like to know from someone truely experienced with the K motor because I heard it from my uncle who works at Honda. I know it won't be a drastic jump in power and mods will be needed, along with tuning, but this car is a daily driver for my fiance and more than 100 hp would be nice. Also, I am not going to buy some expensive set-up for a turbo because the 600 is already available to me and if it doesn't work then the motor stays as is. Thank you for your answers and please don't critize why I want to do this, seeing as it will never be raced, I just would like a little more power out of it.

I,ve worked for all Chrysler. Since 78, it can be done. All is different.

The interior harness, intake, exhaust, logic, power modules, distributor, the sensors are all calibrated different. Of course the engine harness. Dist. It's a good hobby but sort of like making a human young healthy man and putting an old dead but larger man's enis in because of his reputation. Easier to swap the blocks. Or body's. Do it. The 93 had the go without the turbo. That was just a selling whistling feature. You could read the paper while waiting to move out in traffic.

It is a nice idea to bolt a turbo on but not that one. After 87 maybe.

Mileage? After it was done and running, what do you have. Crap Big changes in electronics and software besides the tighter tolerances. You must work with a Chrysler parts man. No service person would entertain the thought. No one wants to have nightmares. The 85 was one. No pick-up. Get an 88 or later and try that. OK I like your ambition but don't worry, a bad idea won't hurt. A bad car will.

I am not sure on your whole question, but to get to the point, no your 2.2L 85 head and or block will not interchange with a 93 2.5L turbo head and or turbo, the only thing that will work is the head bolt aglinment.

Your 2.2 is what is called a turbo I where your 2.5 is a turbo II

You would need to make mods to the head so that you will have correct coolant and oil flow. Plus you will not have enough fuel PSI to get the engine to run right. And you would need to make your fuel delivery OBD II compatible by getting your PCM rewritten.

Now this is all possible at great time and expenss and is published by Chrysler in their performence engine books, I think you need the 9th edition, check with your local dodge dealer or Amozon.com

But to take a whole 2.5L turbo engine and swap it into your car like FLEET said is a better and cheaper idea

The heads are the same EXCEPT for the oil line on the back of the turbo head. When doing the swap Use the entire wiring harness from the donor car, It sounds harder than it really is. If you want to see what a K-motor car can do go to youtube and search for relentless plymouth reliant. If you want you can make the waste-gate adjustable for more power but keep an eye on reliability. Mopar does make a nice aftermarket head if you're willing to spend the extra coin for aluminum

The turbo engine has lower compression so it will not detonate boost.

The heads while looking the same are different. The turbo head is designed for better coolant flow to improve the cooling.

Your best bet is to swap the complete turbo engine into your car.

Next problem is getting enough fuel into the turbo engine, hopefully the turbo computer will work with your cars wiring harness.
