94 Eagle Vision TSI it starts fine but have to boost rpm's to 3500 to 5000 to get the transmission to ingauge and move ,is it the bands are streached or the torque converter out of balance?

It has a bad speed sensor, its on the tranns your simtoms is a a clasic case, of speed sensor syndrom, trust me on this, its a switch on the trans with a loom of wires pluged into it, you need a new switch

Check you transmission fluid. If it's OK, check the trannny filter inside the pan (tranny shop)
